Privacy Policy

This explains what personal information Delectari Scientia collects, why, and how it's stored. Delectari Scientia is based in South Africa and aims to handle your information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. What we collect

• Account details: name, email, password (stored as a salted hash — we never store your actual password), phone and WhatsApp numbers, location.
• Parent/guardian details (where a learner provides them): name, phone, email, WhatsApp.
• Course activity: enrollments, progress, messages, saved library books, notification read-status.
• Payment records: the amount, status, and which course it was for. If you pay by card, your card details are handled entirely by PayFast — Delectari Scientia's servers never receive or store them. If you pay by bank transfer, we keep the proof-of-payment file you upload so an admin can verify it.

2. Why we collect it

To run your account, deliver course content and live class access, let your tutor contact you or a parent/guardian, confirm payments, and improve the platform.

3. Where it's stored

Data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (a database) and Cloudflare KV (for login sessions), both part of Cloudflare's infrastructure. Session login is a single HttpOnly cookie — see the Cookie Policy for detail.

4. Who it's shared with

• PayFast — processes card payments; receives what's needed to complete a transaction (not stored by Delectari Scientia).
• WhatsApp — if you or the tutor use a WhatsApp contact link, that conversation happens on WhatsApp's platform under WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
• We do not sell your information, and we don't use third-party advertising trackers on this site.

5. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to how it's processed, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact us via the Support page to exercise any of these. Deleting your account removes your profile information; some payment records may be retained as required for financial record-keeping and tax law.

If you believe we haven't handled your information properly, you can lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

6. Children's information

Where a learner is a minor, we collect parent/guardian contact details specifically so a parent can stay informed and reachable — not for any other purpose. Processing a minor's information relies on the consent given by the parent/guardian at registration.
